Business Expansion & Retention (B.E.A.R) Program
The District Council of Kimba’s Economic Development Office has released its final Business Retention and Expansion (B.E.A.R.) report.
Since the launch of the B.E.A.R. initiative in November 2022, the project team has heard from the local business community regarding how the Council can support local businesses so that they can grow, create jobs and stay in Kimba.
Data collected through the full B.E.A.R. survey and interviews as well as business and Council feedback informed the development of the Business Retention and Expansion Action Plan.
The B.E.A.R. Action Plan focuses on the following opportunities:
- Enhanced engagement with local businesses; and
- Workforce development.
Some of the specific actions related to the above opportunities include:
- Retaining and expanding existing local businesses.
- Encouraging new business establishment, attracting outside business, investment and resources.
- Plugging leaks in the local economy.
- Enhancing the job linking capacity of the community.
- Marketing the community.
