Mosquito Control
Mosquito Control
Council's action plan is to reduce any likelihood of mosquito borne disease by reducing and controlling the existence of any mosquito breeding areas. To achieve these measures, Council is actively involved in community consultation via advertising, community newsletters and pamphlets.
Breeding is a problem in backyards, common effluent ponds and summer rainfall. These are mainly due to three origins as follows:
- Domestic Rainfall Tanks
- Septic Tanks
- Common Effluent Ponds
- Surface Water
The township Common Effluent Ponds which are located 1.5 km North of the township are treated, on an annual basis, controlling the mosquito breeding ground.
Advertising and promotional material included breeding and control methods, awareness of providing adequate self protection and the checking of facilities around each residence.
