Kimba Silo Art – Capturing the Spirit of Rural Australia
Prepare to be amazed by one of South Australia's most iconic roadside attractions — the Kimba Silo Art, a breathtaking mural towering over the Eyre Highway and welcoming travellers to our creative and proud community.
Painted in September 2017 by renowned Melbourne artist Cam Scale, this massive artwork spans the Viterra grain silos and took 26 days, 200 litres of paint, and a whole lot of heart to complete. It’s a striking tribute to the connection between generations, land, and community — and a must-see photo stop for anyone passing through Kimba.
Part of the Igniting Kimba Arts Program, the silo art was proudly driven by the local community and made possible through generous support from Country Arts SA, Grants SA, Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal, EP Community Foundation, and countless local donations and sponsors.
Best Viewing Spot
Because the silos are part of a working grain site, visitors are asked to stay outside the designated area for safety. But don’t worry — we’ve built a dedicated Silo Art Viewing Platform on Railway Terrace, giving you the perfect angle to take in the scale and detail of this incredible work of art.
Plenty of parking is available nearby — just follow the signs and bring your camera!
