SA Water releases plan to safeguard Eyre Peninsula’s water security
SA Water has released its Water Security Response Plan for the Eyre Peninsula outlining four water security response levels and actions required to be taken by the community based on drinking water availability.
The availability of water ranges from normal water availability (Level 1) to an extreme water shortage (Level 4), and based off the current availability of groundwater sources, which supply around 75% of the peninsula’s water, our region is at water response Level 2.
While there are currently no water restrictions for existing local customers, we are being encouraged to come together and save water and it is an important step in maintaining our long-term water security.
Rebates on the purchase of new water-efficient appliances are a key feature of SA Water’s new water security response plan, providing a framework to protect the region’s drinking water supplies and helping local customers save water.
